Estrace contains estradiol which is selective estrogen receptor modulators, or SERMs that act by binding to one of the estrogen receptors (ERα, and ERβ).
Estrace comes in tablet form and is generally taken once daily. It is available in three dosage forms 0.5 mg, 1 mg and 2 mg. You can take Estrace with or without food. It does not matter what time of day you take the medication, although it is said to be best to take it at same time each day.
It helps to relieve menopausal symptoms by replacing the estrogen that the ovaries no longer produce. Estrace is believed to have various effects on Sexual development, Blood vessels and Pregnancy and is also responsible to play a vital role in Male reproduction; Bone, Liver and Brain metabolism.
Potential side effects of Estrace include headaches, nausea and vomiting , breast pain , abdominal cramps/bloating, hair loss, darkening of skin, fluid retention, high blood pressure, mental or mood changes, dark urine and painful or difficult urination. Serious side effects are less common.
