TAMIFLU ACTION MECHANISM
Tamiflu acts as a neuraminidase inhibitor, competitively inhibiting the activity of viral neuraminidase (NA) enzyme on sialic acid (found on surface of glycoprotein of normal host cells). Thus, Tamiflu prevents new viral particles from being released by infected cells, by blocking enzyme activity.
TAMIFLU DOSAGE
Recommended oral dosage of Tamiflu for treatment of influenza in adults is 75 mg twice per day for 5 days within 48 hours of onset of influenza symptoms. Take Tamiflu medicine at regular intervals, either with a glass of water or with or without food.
TAMIFLU ADVANTAGES
Tamiflu is found to be most effective for treatment of uncomplicated and acute illness of influenza infection as well as for prophylaxis of influenza patients.
TAMIFLU SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects of Tamiflu that usually do not require medical attention include headache, cough, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness or stomach pain.
Serious side effects of Tamiflu that do not require urgent medical help include breathing problems, hallucinations, anxiety, confusion, redness or blistering of skin, seizures or severe allergic reactions.
