Meloxicam acts by inhibiting enzymes necessary for prostaglandin synthesis (cyclooxygenase 1 and 2) thereby, reducing levels of prostaglandins (mediators of inflammation) in blood. Hence, inflammation and its accompanying symptoms are reduced by Meloxicam activity.
MELOXICAM DOSAGE
Recommended starting and maintenance oral dose of Meloxicam tablets for relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis is 7.5 mg per day. Consult your health care professional before taking Meloxicam dosage as some patients may require a dose of 15 mg on a daily basis.
