HYDREA ACTION MECHANISM

Action mechanism of Hydrea is through reducing production of deoxyribonucleotides by inhibition of ribonucleotide reductase enzyme. This is done by scavenging tyrosyl free radicals as they are involved in reduction NDPs and thereby preventing progression of cancer.

HYDREA DOSAGE

Consult your health care professional before taking Hydrea medicine as its dose will depend on clinical condition and severity of disease. Recommended dosage of Hydrea for chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) in adults is 30 mg per kg of body weight per day, to be taken as single dose. While for sickle cell anemia prescribed Hydrea dosage include 15 mg per kg body weight per day, taken as single dose.

HYDREA ADVANTAGES

Hydrea is found to be quite effective in reducing the rate of painful attacks in sickle-cell disease and also possess antiretroviral properties in diseases such as AIDS.

HYDREA SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects of Hydrea that usually do not require medical attention include headache, loss of appetite and red coloration of face.

Serious side effects of Hydrea that require urgent medical help include seizures, breathing problems, mouth sores, skin ulcers, cough, sore throat, numbness in the hands or feet, black, tarry stools and blood in urine.
