Amlodipine action mechanism is through inhibiting transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. Thus, Amlodipine acts as a peripheral arterial vasodilator, causing reduction in peripheral vascular resistance, thereby reducing blood pressure.
AMLODIPINE DOSAGE
Usual dosage of Amlodipine is between 5 mg-10 mg per day, depending upon severity of disease and prescribed by your health care professional. Amlodipine is oral medication, which can be taken with or without food and usually taken with a glass of water. Amlodipine tablets are available in strengths of 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg.
